يَغْشَى ٱلنَّاسَ ۖ هَٰذَا عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ
йəґшəəн-нəəс, həəз̃əə 'əз̃əəбун əлиим
enveloping the people. [They will cry out:] ‘This is a painful punishment.
رَّبَّنَا ٱكْشِفْ عَنَّا ٱلْعَذَابَ إِنَّا مُؤْمِنُونَ
рōббəнəə-кшиф 'əннəəль-'əз̃əəбə иннəə му`минуун
Our Lord! Remove this punishment from us. Indeed we have believed!’
أَنَّىٰ لَهُمُ ٱلذِّكْرَىٰ وَقَدْ جَآءَهُمْ رَسُولٌ مُّبِينٌ
əннəə лəhумуз̃-з̃икрōō вəќōд джəə`əhум рōсуулюмм-мубиин
What will the admonition avail them, when a manifest apostle had already come to them,
ثُمَّ تَوَلَّوْاْ عَنْهُ وَقَالُواْ مُعَلَّمٌ مَّجْنُونٌ
c̃уммə тəвəльлəу 'əнhу вəќōōлюю му'əльлəмумм-мəджнуун
but they turned away from him, and said, ‘A tutored madman?’
إِنَّا كَاشِفُواْ ٱلْعَذَابِ قَلِيلًا ۚ إِنَّكُمْ عَآئِدُونَ
иннəə кəəшифууль-'əз̃əəби ќōлиилə, иннəкум 'əə`идуун
Indeed We will withdraw the punishment a little; but you will revert [to your earlier ways].
يَوْمَ نَبْطِشُ ٱلْبَطْشَةَ ٱلْكُبْرَىٰٓ إِنَّا مُنتَقِمُونَ
йəумə нəбтышуль-бəтшəтəль-кубрōō иннəə муŋŋтəќимуун
The day We shall strike with the most terrible striking, We will indeed take vengeance [on them].
۞ وَلَقَدْ فَتَنَّا قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمَ فِرْعَوْنَ وَجَآءَهُمْ رَسُولٌ كَرِيمٌ
вəлəќōд фəтəннəə ќōблəhум ќōумə фир'əунə вəджəə`əhум рōсуулюн кəриим
Certainly We tried the people of Pharaoh before them, when a noble apostle came to them,
أَنْ أَدُّوٓاْ إِلَىَّ عِبَادَ ٱللَّهِ ۖ إِنِّى لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ
əн əддуу илəййə 'ибəəдəл-лаh, иннии лəкум рōсуулюн əмиин
[saying,] ‘Give over the servants of Allah to me; indeed I am a trusted apostle [sent] to you.
وَأَن لَّا تَعْلُواْ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ ۖ إِنِّىٓ ءَاتِيكُم بِسُلْطَٰنٍ مُّبِينٍ
вə`əль-лəə тə'люю 'əлəл-лаh, иннии əəтиикумм-бисультōōнимм-мубиин
Do not defy Allah. Indeed I bring you a manifest authority.
