مَّا لَهُم بِهِۦ مِنْ عِلْمٍ وَلَا لِءَابَآئِهِمْ  ۚ كَبُرَتْ كَلِمَةً تَخْرُجُ مِنْ أَفْوَٰهِهِمْ  ۚ إِن يَقُولُونَ إِلَّا كَذِبًا

мəə лəhумм-биhи мин 'ильмиу-вəлəə ли`əəбəə`иhим, кəбурōт кəлимəтəн тəхруджу мин əфвəəhиhим, ий-йəќуулююнə ильлəə кəз̃ибə

They do not have any knowledge of that, nor did their fathers. Monstrous is the utterance that comes out of their mouths, and they say nothing but a lie.

فَلَعَلَّكَ بَٰخِعٌ نَّفْسَكَ عَلَىٰٓ ءَاثَٰرِهِمْ إِن لَّمْ يُؤْمِنُواْ بِهَٰذَا ٱلْحَدِيثِ أَسَفًا

фəлə'əльлəкə бəəхы'ун-ннəфсəкə 'əлəə əəc̃əəриhим иль-лəм йу`минуу биhəəз̃əəль-həдииc̃и əсəфə

You are liable to imperil your life out of grief for their sake, if they should not believe this discourse.

إِنَّا جَعَلْنَا مَا عَلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ زِينَةً لَّهَا لِنَبْلُوَهُمْ أَيُّهُمْ أَحْسَنُ عَمَلًا

иннəə джə'əльнəə мəə 'əлəəль-əрды зиинəтəль-лəhəə линəблювəhум əййуhум əhсəну 'əмəлə

Indeed We have made whatever is on the earth an adornment for it that We may test them [to see] which of them is best in conduct.

وَإِنَّا لَجَٰعِلُونَ مَا عَلَيْهَا صَعِيدًا جُرُزًا

вə`иннəə лəджəə'илююнə мəə 'əлэйhəə сō'иидəн джурузə

And indeed We will turn whatever is on it into a barren plain.

أَمْ حَسِبْتَ أَنَّ أَصْحَٰبَ ٱلْكَهْفِ وَٱلرَّقِيمِ كَانُواْ مِنْ ءَايَٰتِنَا عَجَبًا

əм həсибтə əннə əсhəəбəль-кəhфи вəр-рōќиими кəəнуу мин əəйəəтинəə 'əджəбə

Do you suppose that the Companions of the Cave and the Inscription were among Our wonderful signs?

إِذْ أَوَى ٱلْفِتْيَةُ إِلَى ٱلْكَهْفِ فَقَالُواْ رَبَّنَآ ءَاتِنَا مِن لَّدُنكَ رَحْمَةً وَهَيِّئْ لَنَا مِنْ أَمْرِنَا رَشَدًا

из̃ əвəəль-фитйəту илəəль-кəhфи фəќōōлюю рōббəнəə əəтинəə миль-лəдуŋŋкə рōhмəтəу-вəhəййи лəнəə мин əмринəə рōшəдə

When the youths took refuge in the Cave, they said, ‘Our Lord! Grant us a mercy from Yourself, and help us on to rectitude in our affair.’

فَضَرَبْنَا عَلَىٰٓ ءَاذَانِهِمْ فِى ٱلْكَهْفِ سِنِينَ عَدَدًا

фəдōрōбнəə 'əлəə əəз̃əəниhим фииль-кəhфи синиинə 'əдəдə

So We put them to sleep in the Cave for several years.

ثُمَّ بَعَثْنَٰهُمْ لِنَعْلَمَ أَىُّ ٱلْحِزْبَيْنِ أَحْصَىٰ لِمَا لَبِثُوٓاْ أَمَدًا

c̃уммə бə'əc̃нəəhум линə'лəмə əййуль-hизбəйни əhсōō лимəə лəбиc̃уу əмəдə

Then We aroused them that We might know which of the two groups better reckoned the period they had stayed.

نَّحْنُ نَقُصُّ عَلَيْكَ نَبَأَهُم بِٱلْحَقِّ  ۚ إِنَّهُمْ فِتْيَةٌ ءَامَنُواْ بِرَبِّهِمْ وَزِدْنَٰهُمْ هُدًى

нəhну нəќуссу 'əлэйкə нəбə`əhумм-би-ль-həќќ, иннəhум фитйəтун əəмəнуу бирōббиhим вəзиднəəhум hудəн

We relate to you their account in truth. They were indeed youths who had faith in their Lord, and We had enhanced them in guidance,

وَرَبَطْنَا عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِمْ إِذْ قَامُواْ فَقَالُواْ رَبُّنَا رَبُّ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ لَن نَّدْعُوَاْ مِن دُونِهِۦٓ إِلَٰهًا  ۖ لَّقَدْ قُلْنَآ إِذًا شَطَطًا

вəрōбəтнəə 'əлəə ќулююбиhим из̃ ќōōмуу фəќōōлюю рōббунəə рōббус-сəмəəвəəти вəəль`əрды лəн-нəд'увə миŋŋ-дууниhи илəəhə, лəќōд ќульнəə из̃əн шəтōтō

and fortified their hearts, when they stood up and said, ‘Our Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth. We will never invoke any god besides Him, for then we shall certainly have said an atrocious lie.

هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ قَوْمُنَا ٱتَّخَذُواْ مِن دُونِهِۦٓ ءَالِهَةً  ۖ لَّوْلَا يَأْتُونَ عَلَيْهِم بِسُلْطَٰنٍۭ بَيِّنٍ  ۖ فَمَنْ أَظْلَمُ مِمَّنِ ٱفْتَرَىٰ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ كَذِبًا

həə`улəə`и ќōумунəə-ттəхōз̃уу миŋŋ-дууниhи əəлиhəh, лəулəə йə`туунə 'əлэйhимм-бисультōōнимм-бэййин, фəмəн əз̃лəму миммəни-фтəрōō 'əлəл-лаhи кəз̃ибə

These—our people—have taken gods besides Him. Why do they not bring any clear authority touching them? So who is a greater wrongdoer than he who fabricates a lie against Allah?
