أَنِ ٱغْدُواْ عَلَىٰ حَرْثِكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰرِمِينَ
əни-ґдуу 'əлəə həрc̃икум иŋŋ-куŋŋтум сōōримиин
‘Get off early to your field if you have to gather [the fruits].’
فَٱنطَلَقُواْ وَهُمْ يَتَخَٰفَتُونَ
фəəŋŋтōлəќуу вəhум йəтəхōōфəтуун
So off they went, murmuring to one another:
أَن لَّا يَدْخُلَنَّهَا ٱلْيَوْمَ عَلَيْكُم مِّسْكِينٌ
əль-лəə йəдхулəннəhəəль-йəумə 'əлэйкум-мискиин
‘Today no needy man shall come to you in it.’
وَغَدَوْاْ عَلَىٰ حَرْدٍ قَٰدِرِينَ
вəґōдəу 'əлəə həрдин ќōōдириин
And they set out at early morning, [considering themselves] able to deprive [the poor of its fruit].
فَلَمَّا رَأَوْهَا قَالُوٓاْ إِنَّا لَضَآلُّونَ
фəлəммəə рō`əуhəə ќōōлюю иннəə лəдōōллююн
But when they saw it, they said, ‘We have indeed lost our way!’
قَالَ أَوْسَطُهُمْ أَلَمْ أَقُل لَّكُمْ لَوْلَا تُسَبِّحُونَ
ќōōлə əусəтуhум əлəм əќуль-лəкум лəулəə тусəббиhуун
The most upright among them said, ‘Did I not tell you, ‘‘Why do you not glorify [Allah]?’’ ’
قَالُواْ سُبْحَٰنَ رَبِّنَآ إِنَّا كُنَّا ظَٰلِمِينَ
ќōōлюю субhəəнə рōббинəə иннəə куннəə з̃ōōлимиин
They said, ‘Immaculate is our Lord! We have indeed been wrongdoers!’
