فَلَيْسَ لَهُ ٱلْيَوْمَ هَٰهُنَا حَمِيمٌ

фəлэйсə лəhуль-йəумə həəhунəə həмиим

so he has no friend here today,

وَلَا طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِنْ غِسْلِينٍ

вəлəə тō'əəмун ильлəə мин ґислиин

nor any food except pus,

لَّا يَأْكُلُهُۥٓ إِلَّا ٱلْخَٰطِـُٔونَ

лəə йə`кулюhу ильлəəль-хōōты`уун

which no one shall eat except the iniquitous.’

فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِمَا تُبْصِرُونَ

фəлəə уќсиму бимəə тубсыруун

I swear by what you see

وَمَا لَا تُبْصِرُونَ

вəмəə лəə тубсыруун

and what you do not see:

إِنَّهُۥ لَقَوْلُ رَسُولٍ كَرِيمٍ

иннəhу лəќōулю рōсуулин кəриим

it is indeed the speech of a noble apostle

وَمَا هُوَ بِقَوْلِ شَاعِرٍ  ۚ قَلِيلًا مَّا تُؤْمِنُونَ

вəмəə hувə биќōули шəə'ир, ќōлиилəмм-мəə ту`минуун

and it is not the speech of a poet. Little is the faith that you have!

وَلَا بِقَوْلِ كَاهِنٍ  ۚ قَلِيلًا مَّا تَذَكَّرُونَ

вəлəə биќōули кəəhин, ќōлиилəмм-мəə тəз̃əккəруун

Nor is it the speech of a soothsayer. Little is the admonition that you take!

تَنزِيلٌ مِّن رَّبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ

тəŋŋзиилюмм-мир-рōббиль-'əəлəмиин

Gradually sent down from the Lord of all the worlds.

وَلَوْ تَقَوَّلَ عَلَيْنَا بَعْضَ ٱلْأَقَاوِيلِ

вəлəу тəќōувəлə 'əлэйнəə бə'дōль-əќōōвииль

Had he faked any sayings in Our name,

لَأَخَذْنَا مِنْهُ بِٱلْيَمِينِ

лə`əхōз̃нəə минhу би-ль-йəмиин

We would have surely seized him by the right hand

ثُمَّ لَقَطَعْنَا مِنْهُ ٱلْوَتِينَ

c̃уммə лəќōтō'нəə минhуль-вəтиин

and then cut off his aorta,

فَمَا مِنكُم مِّنْ أَحَدٍ عَنْهُ حَٰجِزِينَ

фəмəə миŋŋкум-мин əhəдин 'əнhу həəджизиин

and none of you could have held Us off from him.

وَإِنَّهُۥ لَتَذْكِرَةٌ لِّلْمُتَّقِينَ

вə`иннəhу лəтəз̃кирōтул-ли-ль-муттəќиин

Indeed it is a reminder for the Godwary.

وَإِنَّا لَنَعْلَمُ أَنَّ مِنكُم مُّكَذِّبِينَ

вə`иннəə лəнə'лəму əннə миŋŋкум-мукəз̃з̃ибиин

Indeed We know that there are some among you who deny [it].

وَإِنَّهُۥ لَحَسْرَةٌ عَلَى ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ

вə`иннəhу лəhəсрōтун 'əлəəль-кəəфириин

And indeed it will be a [matter of] regret for the faithless.

وَإِنَّهُۥ لَحَقُّ ٱلْيَقِينِ

вə`иннəhу лəhəќќуль-йəќиин

It is indeed certain truth.

فَسَبِّحْ بِٱسْمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلْعَظِيمِ

фəсəббиh бисми рōббикəль-'əз̃ыым

So celebrate the Name of your Lord, the All-supreme.

سَأَلَ سَآئِلٌۢ بِعَذَابٍ وَاقِعٍ

сə`əлə сəə`илюмм-би'əз̃əəбиу-вəəќи'

An asker asked for a punishment sure to befall

لِّلْكَٰفِرِينَ لَيْسَ لَهُۥ دَافِعٌ

ли-ль-кəəфириинə лэйсə лəhу дəəфи'

—which none can avert from the faithless —

مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ ذِى ٱلْمَعَارِجِ

минəл-лаhи з̃ииль-мə'əəридж

from Allah, Lord of the lofty stations.

تَعْرُجُ ٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ وَٱلرُّوحُ إِلَيْهِ فِى يَوْمٍ كَانَ مِقْدَارُهُۥ خَمْسِينَ أَلْفَ سَنَةٍ

тə'руджуль-мəлəə`икəту вəр-рууhу илəйhи фии йəумин кəəнə миќдəəруhу хōмсиинə əльфə сəнəh

The angels and the Spirit ascend to Him in a day whose span is fifty thousand years.

فَٱصْبِرْ صَبْرًا جَمِيلًا

фəəсбир сōбрōн джəмиилə

So be patient, with a patience that is graceful.

إِنَّهُمْ يَرَوْنَهُۥ بَعِيدًا

иннəhум йəрōунəhу бə'иидə

Indeed they see it to be far off,

وَنَرَىٰهُ قَرِيبًا

вəнəрōōhу ќōриибə

and We see it to be near.

يَوْمَ تَكُونُ ٱلسَّمَآءُ كَٱلْمُهْلِ

йəумə тəкуунус-сəмəə`у кəəльмуhль

The day when the sky will be like molten copper,

وَتَكُونُ ٱلْجِبَالُ كَٱلْعِهْنِ

вəтəкуунуль-джибəəлю кəəль'иhн

and the mountains like [tufts of] dyed wool,

وَلَا يَسْـَٔلُ حَمِيمٌ حَمِيمًا

вəлəə йəс`əлю həмиимун həмиимə

and no friend will inquire about [the welfare of his] friend,
